Ivan III (Ivan VI Antonovich) Rouble 1741-CПБ MS61 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bit-30 var. (R1), Diakov-13 var., Petrov 15 Roubles, legend ends directly below order. Obv. Laureate, and mantled, bust right with order ribbon. Rev. Crowned double-headed eagle holding orb and scepter, with date above. A hint of soft strike in the central areas. Fully lustrous, with argent-gray patina and a hint of russet toning. The surfaces are free of significant flaws and a small edge flaw, as made, is noted at 1 o'clock. A very rare, short-lived issue, with very few Mint State examples extant.

Ivan was the nephew of Czarina Anna. Anna, being in bad health, adopted Ivan and named him her successor. Anna died when Ivan was only two months old and he was proclaimed Emperor shortly thereafter. Less than a year later, Ivan's cousin Elizabeth seized the throne with the help of the palace guards and Ivan, and his parents, were put in prison. Ivan remained in prison for over 20 years, when he was killed by prison guards acting on instructions from Catherine II.

Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
