Paul I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1798/7 CM-MБ MS67 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C99.1a, Bitkin-48 var. (overdate not noted). A miracle survivor, bathed in light steel-gray patina, with hints of goldenrod scattered over the lustrous surfaces. Upon close inspection, the overdate remains boldly pronounced and essentially no signs of post-strike handling are present. A few light planchet adjustments on the reverse rims are noted for the sake of thoroughness, but their presence is common for the type. Presently unmatched in Superb Gem grade (MS67) for any 1/2 rouble of Paul at NGC or PCGS and more likely than not, the finest survivor of this year extant. As such, a coin certain to enhance even the most accomplished collection of Russian coinage.
Estimate: 10000-15000 USD
