Salzburg - Archbishopric. Max Gandolf von Küenburg gold 4 Ducat 1668 AU Details (Reverse Tooled) NGC, Salzburg mint, KM197, Fr-803, Probszt-1600. An attractive example of this issue despite the tooling, with soft tone and much luster accentuating the excellent strike and charming engraving. While the reverse is tooled, the fields have not been smoothed throughout as is often the case. Rather, there is a small area to the right of the obverse galero tassels and between where it appears that a previous owner may have been attempting to remove patination or some stubborn residue.
