Pedro II 960 Reis 1832-R MS65 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM385, LMB-P517. A breathtaking Gem example of this highly coveted date and type, with luminous semi-prooflike fields on both the obverse and reverse, a razor-sharp strike that intricately details the design elements and alluring golden tone that clings to much of the raised design. Few visible marks, especially on the side with Brazil's crowned arms, help to confirm the Gem grade, while several wispy as-made striations that resulted from an improper alloy mixture are noted for purely academic purposes. One of only four examples to reach this lofty grade at NGC or PCGS, with a single MS66 in NGC's census.
