Copper Company of Upper Canada Proof silver Pattern "Restrike" 1/2 Penny Token "1794" (1894), PR65 PCGS, PF-7, BR-721. Struck in medal rotation. This is the rare "Restrike" of the original copper pattern submitted by the Soho mint to Upper Canada and Lieutenant Governor Simcoe in 1794. "Restrikes" were struck in several different metals and the interesting historical information on these pieces is presented in the description of the original 1794 toke previously offered. Obv. Reclining river god, holding trident, with date below. Rev. COPPER COMPANY OF UPPER CANADA in center circle with date around. A boldly struck Gem example, with mottled gold, gray, and green patina. The fields are deeply mirrored, and the surfaces lustrous, with no significant flaws. Very rare, and the single finest example certified by PCGS.
