George V gold Sovereign 1916-C MS61 NGC, Ottawa mint, KM20. Struck during the midst of WWI and bearing a small mintage as such, the 1916 date is the undisputed key to this fleeting George V Sovereign series. The present offering displays a very desirable pale-gold color, with flecks of peach luster that beam from the protected areas. And, despite a few grade-defining marks throughout both sides, the strength of this selection remains its the boldly-rendered design elements. Between PCGS and NGC, there are currently 35 certified examples of this date, and recent auction records confirm that this issue commands an incredible amount of interest from the collectors of Canadian gold rarities.
