German States
Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Friedrich Wilhelm gold 10 Mark 1880 MS64 NGC, KM106, J-237. A rare type, and hardly ever found in such condition. Though these are available as long as one has a little bit of patience, they are almost never encountered in Mint State. In fact, Kuenker recently sold one that they graded "Fast Stempelglanz" (Near Mint State) for 19,000 Euros hammer. Though we were not able to compare the coin on offer here to that one in hand, we have to assume that it has to be at least similar to the one on offer here. It is hard to estimate something such as this, because no Mint State graded examples have ever been sold, so we can only go off of the results of raw coins sold overseas. Wherever this piece ends up, however, it should be a very useful benchmark for estimating future examples of the type.

Estimate: 8000-10000 USD
