Henry VIII (1509-1547) gold Angel 1509-1526 MS63 NGC, Tower mint, First coinage, Crowned Portcullis mm, S-2265, North-1760. A superb specimen of this issue, vibrantly lustrous with an exacting strike. The portrait of St. Michael is particularly sharp. A faint coppery patina has settled upon the surfaces, remarkable for their lack of notable abrasions. Traces of weakness may be found primarily in the legends, but they have negligible effect on the visual impact of this piece.
