Great Britain
Charles II gold 2 Guineas 1676 MS61 PCGS, Royal mint, KM443.1, Fr-284, S-3335. Milled coinage of 1662-1685. Second bust. An impressively original and very scarce offering of this type, featuring an exacting strike accentuating a marvelous portrait of Charles. The fields are reflective and the surfaces overall exhibit appealing copper-red tone. A handful of light surface marks are noted upon close inspection, as are a smattering of minuscule annealing flaws, none of which substantially impact the eye-appeal on the coin in hand. This example was recently sold by Spink in May of 2015 (Auction 15031, Lot 369), where it realized 23,000 GBP hammer (approx. 43,400 USD with BP).
