Great Britain
George II gold 5 Guineas 1753 AU55 NGC, Royal mint, KM586.2, S-3666. An attractive, lightly circulated example of this immensely sought large gold denomination. Rather wholesome for the grade, the surfaces display much of the evidence of circulation that one might expect for a coin of this period, yet essentially no marks of focal prominence are encountered; a real rarity for issues of this size struck in such a soft metal. Along the outer legends, both original gleam from the protected surfaces, as well as a touch of rose-gold tone catch the eye. A full strike completes the appeal. All told, a coin that is fully deserving of prominent cabinet placement.
