Victoria gold Proof 1/2 Sovereign 1887 PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC, KM766, S-3869. Though not a particularly rare type, we have not offered one in such high condition in over two years. That last piece (sold in August, 2014) was also graded by NGC as PR66 Ultra Cameo, hammered at $5,250. In just the last two years, though, the market for British proof gold has gone up considerably; the piece on offer here has the illustrious Murdoch pedigree to boot, giving it even more appeal. With flawless surfaces and a fantastic cameo effect, this is an all-around great coin that we suspect will end up in a true connoisseur's collection.
