Royal mint, KM-PSA20, S-PS14 var. (matte proof set). A simply stunning offering, and to the best of our knowledge, the first time a complete 1927 matte proof set has been offered publicly in at least 15 years. In the Standard Catalog of British Coins, all of these matte proofs are listed without any sort of values, with just the denotation of "Extremely Rare" or "Of the highest rarity." In terms of pricing, perhaps the best indication would be the results from a few Goldberg's auctions- in sales 85 (June, 2015) and 91 (June, 2016), they apparently sold a broken up matte proof set, having offered all six denominations between the two auctions. Though the grades are slightly different than the set on offer here (in some cases higher, in other cases lower), for a set as rare as this, grade is really a non-issue. The total hammer price of those six coins was $47,950. What this piece has that the other set did not, however is an red box from the Royal Mint, presumably the same one in which it was officially issued as part of. This really is a very special opportunity, and one that any specialist of British coins will be able to recognize. All of these coins are beautiful, problem-free, and impeccably preserved.

Estimate: 40000-50000 USD
