Constantine I copper-nickel Specimen Essai Drachma 1915 SP65 PCGS, Paris mint, KM-E32, Karamitsos-T.86, Divo-P100 var. (copper-nickel). C. Dimitriades as engraver. An extremely rare Essai produced for the Greek government just two years after the accession of Constantine I to the throne. The surfaces are fairly typical of the type, with speckled tone and full underlying luster highlighting a quality of strike one expects of most Paris issues. Adding to the desirability of this pattern type is the fact that it was never produced for circulation. Plans to produce business strikes in silver were cancelled when it was realized that the value of the silver in the circulating issues would be in excess of the face value of the coins.
Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
