British India. East India Company - William IV gold Proof Restrike Mohur 1835-(B) PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS, Bombay mint, KM451.1, Prid-17, S&W-1.16. Without engraver's initials or dot after date. A model representative of this widely popular Restrike issue that features vivid contrast between the design elements and the low-lying fields. The obverse features the typical "flat" portrait of William IV doused in silk texture, with the usual touch of porosity commonly encountered for the strike. As the designation indicates, few handling blemishes are noted, however a stunning amount of flash beams from the mirrors, showering the illustrations in a bath of light. A finer-certified specimen with this combination of characteristics has not yet emerged, so to offer an example in this jewel-like level of presentation is quite an honor.
