British India. East India Company - Victoria gold Mohur 1841. MS63 NGC, Bombay or Calcutta mint, KM461.1, Fr-1595, Prid-18, S&W-2.1. Continuous Legend variety. An inaugural, singular type that presents a continuous, obverse legend, showing the youthful portrait of the Queen in full beauty and a reverse design that nearly steals the show. As one might expect at this level of presentation, the raised elements are choice in their renderings, mint luster still easily meanders the fields, and a number of contact handling marks are noted across the surfaces. Additionally, a small, impressed line transverses the hair on Victoria's effigy, possibly an adjustment mark or strike-through, either of which fall under the "as-made" category. Overall, an impressive selection from the Bombay mint that is not often encountered, especially so choice, and for the collectors of British India, a specimen that can easily sit amongst other scarcities from this time period.

Estimate: 8000-10000 USD
