British India. Victoria gold Mohur 1879-C MS62 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM496, Prid-17, S&W-6.6. Mintage: 19,000. Of great importance to this series, first as an earlier date with a limited production figure, and second, for its sublime, Mint-State detailing across the artistic designs. As a whole, satin texture permeates the entirety of the planchet, which is delicately toned to a warm amber, and estimable effulgence still resides within the protected areas, brightening the fields from behind. Upon further study, the eye is easily satisfied, as only minor instances of handling are observed, and the raise portions are pleasingly bold, save for a touch of softness in the Queen's hair. In a wondrous state of preservation, and according to recent auction results, a type that is rarely offered finer, currently out-paced by one example certified as MS63 by NGC. As such, a select representative, deemed choice in hand, and likely to accumulate great interest from specialists of this British colony.

Estimate: 6000-7000 USD
