India
British India. Victoria gold Mohur 1889 MS63 PCGS, Calcutta mint, KM496, Prid-23, S&W-6.16. Mintage: 15,000. Most pleasing for the designation, with ethereal golden tone that manages to set the portrait of the Queen aglow, and detailing that appears rather bold in hand, particularly throughout Victoria's brocade and the ornamental reverse wreath. A number of minor scuffs and traces of handling are noted in the open fields, and despite their limiting effect on the grade, they do little to deter the eye from the glamorous focal points. Very much a prize when encountered in this technical quality, and sure to amass a great deal of desire as such.
