Umayyad. temp. Hisham (AH 105-125 / AD 724-743) gold Dinar AH 114 (732/3) Choice AU, Ifriqiya mint, 4.26g, A-136C (RRR). An extremely rare Umayyad issue in a remarkable state of preservation. The flan is straight and the strike is well-centered with the full module on flan, the beaded border unbroken around the circumference of the legends. A hint of striking weakness may be found in a portion of the periphery, but this does not affect the legibility of the legends. The surfaces are free of significant marks and retain much of their original luster. A superior offering of this type and an opportunity for the connoisseur of rare Islamic coinage that may not avail itself again for many years.
