Showa nickel Proof Pattern 10 Sen Year 8 (1933) PR65 NGC, Osaka mint, KM-Pn63, cf. types of KM-Y53/Y54 (for obv./rev.), cf. JNDA-01-40/01-28 (same). "5 Sen obverse" variety. Obv. Garnished central hole; sakura to left and right, legend with RY date above and below. Rev. Central hole garnished by karakusa sprays; denomination across field, chrysanthemum above, paulownia below. Brilliantly lustrous, with impeccably beautiful fields and a hint of light golden tone near the peripheries. An extremely rare gem, the only other example which we could locate was sold in our 1997 ANA auction (sale 175, lot 6775), which was an ungraded 'prooflike BU.'
