Republic "A above O" 8 Reales 1863 OA-AE MS63 NGC, Oaxaca mint, KM377.11, DP-Oa11. Variety with the "A" above "O" in the mintmark. Endlessly desired as a unique mintmark style from this long-running series, with dazzling luster in the fields and light golden tone over both sides. Minimally marked for the grade as well, with surfaces that certainly approach Gem quality, but hold several planchet adjustments that ultimately prevented the designation. Still, extremely rare in this lovely quality, and as the the only Mint State example certified by NGC, with an accompanying famous pedigree to boot, a coin that is sure to capture the attention of specialists in the series.
