Charles II gold Cob 2 Escudos 1698 C-M MS62 PCGS, Cuzco mint, KM28, Cal-122. Produced in crude "cob" fashion, with several sharp bevels created in the production of the planchet. In a stroke of luck, the all-important last two digits of the date remain bold and centered on the flan however, with some doubling visible in the reverse cross. Although not attributed as such, very likely an example that was recovered from the 1715 Plate Fleet. Very rare at the certified Mint State grade.
