James V (1513-1542) gold Crown 1526-1539 AU55 NGC, Second coinage of 1526-1539, S-5370 (misattributed by NGC as S-5369, which would have annulet stops), Burns-6 (Fig. 743). A highly attractive example of this very scarce type, lightly toned and original with significant remaining luster. Typical for the type, portions of the devices are double-struck and there are a number of tiny flan flaws, but this remains in the aggregate an above-average piece, well worth the attention of an advanced collector of Scottish gold.
