Philip III silver 50 Reales (Cinquentin) 1617 Aqueduct-A XF40 NGC, Segovia mint, Cal-79, KM65, Aqueduct mintmark for Segovia, with A (with cross) assayer. 72.6mm/169.01g. Well struck with minor edge dings. Obv. Crowned Habsburg arms dividing mintmark and value. Rev. Arms of Castille and Leon with date above. Extremely rare with 7 or 8 confirmed examples, including permanently impounded ones. A mintage of 20 coins was authorized by the King to a few merchants of silver. These massive silver coins were struck periodically from 1609 until 1682. They were probably presentation issues and not intended for general circulation.
