Philip IV 50 Reales 1626 Aqueduct-A XF45 NGC, Segovia mint, Cal-239, KM81.2, Aqueduct mintmark for Segovia, with A (with cross) assayer. 75mm/172.42g. Nice details, with minor flan flaw on the obverse. The King authorized a mintage of 300 coins for Gaspar de Guzmán y Pimentel, Count-Duke of Olivares, Marquis of Eliche and later favourite of king Philip IV. Perhaps 25 examples are currently confirmed, including the ones permanently impounded in public collections. This particular example boasts a superb pedigree, as it was once part of the famed Archer Huntington collection, (HSA inventory number 10613), later auctioned by Jesus Vico in Spain (Vico 9/2012, lot 1135).

Although a more "common" date, this specimen is well above-average for the type with pleasing patina and problem free surfaces.

Estimate: 18000-24000 USD
