Maximinus I Thrax (AD 235-238). Æ sestertius (21.34 gm). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Rome, late AD 236-237. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximinus right / Victory standing left, holding wreath and palm frond; to left, bound captive seated left, head right. RIC IV 90. BMCRE 191-3. Chocolate brown patina. Boldly struck on a broad flan, with a brutishly realistic portrait.
