Theodosius II, Eastern Roman emperor (AD 402-450). AR solidus (4.14 gm). NGC AU 5/5 - 3/5, clipped. Thessalonica, AD 441-442. Helmeted, pearl-diademed and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear and shield with horseman and enemy motif / Emperor advancing right, bearing trophy and carrying captive by hair; in right field, star, TESOB in exergue. RIC 367. Depeyrot 53/1. Very rare! Edges slightly clipped, otherwise quite pleasing.
