Heraclius (AD 610 - 641 AD). AV solidus (4.54 gm). NGC AU 4/5 - 3/5, edge marks. Jerusalem or uncertain Eastern mint. Facing busts of Heraclius (on left) and Heraclius Constantine, each wearing chlamys and crown with cross, exergual line beneath / Cross potent on three steps CONOB beneath. Sear 851 (Jerusalem). DO 188a (Alexandria). Ratto 1379-80. BN 3 (Alexandria). MIB 77 (Cyprus). Note: Coin has come loose in holder.
The attribution of this scarce solidus type to Jerusalem is not universally accepted, although an Eastern mint is considered certain.
