Michael VIII Palaeologus (1261-1282). AV hyperpyron (4.13 gm). NGC MS 4/5 - 5/5. Philadelphia (?). Virgin Mary orans, within city-walls with six groups of towers; Π - Є in lower fields / Michael kneeling left before seated Christ, who holds scroll, and supported by St. Michael. DOC IIb. Sear 2243. Decent strike in good alloy for this notoriously sloppy series.
