George III Proof Penny 1786 PR64 Red and Brown PCGS, KM9.2, S-7413d. Without pellet. Plain edge. A beautiful selection and a scarcer variety within the series, featuring copper-tinged chestnut surfaces that are full of gloss and highlighted by instances of magenta color. The reverse design motif is fully raised and high-point detail is easily noticeable across both sides. Decidedly worthy of a bid that surpasses our high estimate, and despite a few stray ticks, deserving of the Gem designation.
