Republic Eight-Piece Proof Libertad Onza silver and Centavos Peso copper-nickel Set 1982-83, Mexico mint, KM-PS1. This was the first year an Onza / Libertad was struck in Proof since 1947. But that coin was a pattern for its predeccessor being the 1949 Onza bullion issue. The mintage was 998 purportedly for the 1983 Onza but the set production is listed as 1000. All coins are Gem and show no evidence of spotting, clouding, nor corrosion exists as the coins have been untouched since the day they were minted and are sealed. The frosted mirrored Libertad is as perfect as can be within the packaging. A highly sought after set by collectors being the "Inaugural" Proof Set, these sets are getting difficult to find due to the growing popularity of the Libertad / Onza series in general by both collectors domestically and worldwide. We are offering set #558/#1000 which includes the COA's with the original packaging intact. Expect fierce competition for this modern day scarcity.
