August II the Strong silver Medal 1697, by Georg Hautsch, Hcz-2588 var., Raczymski-266 var, good XF. Issued to commemorate the coronation of August II as Frederick Augustus, King of Poland. Obv. Laureate and armored portrait of the King, right. Rev. Augustus II, standing over vanquished hydra, receives the Polish crown from the goddess. The strike is superb, with reflective fields. A touch of russet patina, most notably around the peripheries, with light surface marks and a noticeable edge bump on the reverse between 2 and 3 o'clock. Very scarce.
