Catherine II Specimen copper Death Medal 1796 SP63 Brown PCGS, struck at the Soho mint by Matthew Boulton,engraved by C. Kuechler, Diakov-238.1 (R1), 29mm. PCGS has incorrectly listed the date as 1797 on the holder, but the correct date is 1796. Crowned bust of Catherine II right with legend, By the Grace of God Catherine II Empress and Autocrat of All Russia. Rev. Crowned double-headed imperial eagle with legend, Born 2 May 1729, Died 6/17 November 1796. Sharply struck, with fully mirrored fields. Even chocolate-brown toning covers both sides and the surfaces display a few light marks.
