FOREIGN - A uniform of a Knight of Honour and Devotion of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta , MALTA Manufactured by John Kennis, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, ca. 1900-1950. HAT: bicorner hat of black felt, decorated with black ostrich plumes; red and white cockade of celeste silk, decorated with gold cords and closed with a gold-plated metal button. TUNIC: in red woolen cloth, double-breasted, with two rows of seven buttons of gold-plated metal, the collar and cuffs are black cloth with designs embroidered in gold thread. At the shoulders a single strip of gold on red cord to which the epaulets are affixed. TROUSERS: in black woolen cloth with lateral bands of gold thread cords with a thin red thread at the center. EPAULETS: entirely embroidered in gold thread on a red and black woolen background, with a button in gold-plated metal on the top as well as a cross embroidered in white. BELT: red leather and black velvet with a double band of gold thread and an entwined band of thorns. The buckle has been gilded. SPURS: gold-plated.
