VERENIGDE OOST–INDISCHE COMPAGNIE 1602–1799 - Wijnfles / Wine bottle , Silver Opgedoken uit het wrak van het VOC schip ''t Vliegent Hert'. Het Vliegend Hert zonk op 3 februari 1735, slechts enkele uren nadat zij de haven van Rammekens in Zeeland had verlaten, op weg naar Batavia in Nederlands-Indië. De historie leert dat zij door de wind van haar koers is afgeblazen en vastliep op de zandbanken. De bemanning kreeg haar hiervan af, naar het open water, maar helaas was haar romp te zwaar beschadigd waardoor zij zonk en 256 levens meenam naar de diepte. Ondanks dat het schip honderden flessen vervoerde, zijn deze vrijwel allemaal verloren gegaan. Slechts enkele stuks zijn in particulier bezit, het overgrote deel ligt in musea. Prachtige iriserende patina, bevat nog steeds de originele wijn! Salvaged from the Dutch VOC shipwreck of ''t Vliegent Hert'. The Vliegend Hert sank on February 3, 1735, soon after her departure from the port of Rammekens in Zeeland (The Netherlands) on route to Batavia (now Jakarta) in the Dutch East Indies. The ship is said to have been blown off course during a gale force wind before running aground on a sandbank. The crew managed to get her afloat and continue into deeper waters, but the hull was badly damaged and the Vliegend Hert sank with the loss of 256 souls. The ship's cargo included a few hundred bottles of wine, most of them were destroyed. Only a few bottles remain in private hands, with the majority on display in museums. Beautiful iridescent patina, still containing the original wine!
