Germanicus's military campaigns in Germania (14-16) made him famous for avenging the defeat of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest (9 AD) and retrieving two of the three legionary eagles which had been lost. This type commemorates the triumph held in Rome on 26 May 17 celebrating these victories
