USA, Colonials, Rhode Island. Bronze Ship Token or Medal, 1778-1779, weight 9,36 g, diameter 32mm, unsigned (presumed Dutch origin). Ref.Betts 562. Obv. map Aquidneck, Rhode Island, depicting the American forces retreating from three British ships, with no wreath below ship rev. Admiral Howe's flagship right, without wreath below . . . . This Rhode Island early token is a grand testimony of the Colonials private issues. Eight varieties were referenced, and this piece belongs to the variety "No Wreath Below the ship". . . .
