Augustus (27 BC. - 14 AD.). AE 24mm. Sicily, uncertain mint. Obv. AVGVSTVS. Bare head right. Rev. STATIVS FLACCVS P COTTA BA II VIR. SIENNA/PR. COS within wreath. RPC 668. Calciati, Panormus 40. AE. g. 8.71 RRR. Good VF/VF. There is even less to go on with this extremely rare and interesting provincial issue. 'There seems no doubt that it is of Augustus, and it resembles the coins of Mussidius Longus from Tyndaris and of Clodius Rufus from Agrigentum (after 2 BC). Sisenna is, however otherwise unknown. There seems no evidence for its mint except Grant's report of a specimen found in western Sicily'. (Roman Provincial Coinage, I, p 179).
