This coin was originally part of the Elvira Elisa Clain-Stefanelli (1914-2001) collection- a force in Numismatics in the 20th Century. The Smithsonian Institutions coin cabinet (the National Numismatic Collection) today is primarily the work of Elvira and her late hus- band, Vladimir. This coin was painstakingly cleaned manually under the microscope over many hours. The patina was left intact and no details were strengthened.
