World Medals, France, Antoine de Loménie (1560-1638), Secretary of State to the Navy, later Ambassador Extraordinary to England, cast Copper Medal, unsigned, 1630, bust right in robes and cap, rev Jupiter [the sun] in quadriga, in the company of Mercury, races along Zodiac and over panoramic landscape, SIC TE REX MAGNE SEQVEBAR, 46mm (Maz 874; Pollard [2007] 668; Kress 580). A contemporary though somewhat rough cast, very fine, rare.
Antoine de Loménie was Secretary of State to the Navy, under Louis XIII from 1613 to 1615, then was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary of France in England in 1592. (150 - 250 GBP)
