World Medals, Germany, Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm IV (1840-1861), The Dedication of the Equestrian Statue of Frederick the Great, Berlin, 1851, Silver Medal, by H. Bubert for Loos, conjoined busts of Friedrich Wilhelm III and IV to right, rev the statue atop its highly ornate plinth, raised border both sides, 61mm (Henckel 2597). Extremely fine, scarce.
The equestrian statue of Frederick the Great was sculpted by Christian Daniel Rauch who spent nearly 20 years of his life working on this single project. It was returned to its position on the Unter den Linden near the Humboldt University in 1980. (150 - 200 GBP)
