The son of Magnus Maximus, he was probably a child when his father usurped the western throne. When Maximus invaded Italy he appears to have been left behind in Gaul for safety. Following his father's downfall, he was taken prisoner and put to death by Theodosius' Frankish general, Arbogastes. (Information from David R. Sear, Roman Coins and their Values V, page 424.)
