MOESIA INFERIOR. Callatis. 2nd century A.D. Æ. 5.85 gm. 21 mm. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Veiled head of Demeter right, wearing wreath of grain ears, grain ear before / ΚΑΛ ΛΑΤΙ ΑΝΩΝ in three lines within wreath. SNG Stancomb 864. McClean 4317 and pl. 160, 11 (same dies). Extremely Fine; lovely coin with a good style high relief portrait and attractive dark green patina. Rare.

Purchased from Kirk Davis. Includes David Sear certificate of authenticity where he describes the coin as "attractively patinated and superbly preserved." Demeter (Ceres), sister of Zeus, is 'goddess of the grain,' agriculture and fertility.
