ROMAN BRITAIN. Antonia Minor. Mother of Claudius. Grandmother of Caligula. Died A.D. 37. Æ dupondius. 12.19 gm. 26 mm. Barbarous imitation struck in Britain of the issue struck under Claudius circa A.D. 41-50. Her draped bust right; ANTONIA AVGVSTA / Claudius, veiled, standing left, holding simpulum; S C to either side; TI CLAVDIVS [CAESAR AVG P M TR] P IMP around. Cf. RIC I 92. Good Fine; pleasing portrait, some weakness; pleasant golden cleaned orichalcum look. Highly unusual and fascinating. Very Rare.
