CELTIC BRITAIN. North Eastern, "Corieltauvi" uninscribed. Circa 45-10 B.C. AV stater. 5.44 gm. 17 mm. South Ferriby type. Disjointed laureate head (faintly reminiscent of Philip I tetradrachm) / Wonderfully abstract horse left, the anchor symbol above as two spirals enclosing pellet, six pointed star below horse's belly (partially off flan), triangle of pellets below tail. S. 390. ABC 1743. Van Arsdell 811-821. "Near EF; as struck, warm orangey gold, scintillating surfaces. Rare" (Chris Rudd's apt description).

Ex Derek Walsh Collection. Ex Vecchi Nummorum Auctiones 15 (15 June 1999), lot 1618. The Vecchi sale was in association with Chris Rudd. With David Sear certificate of authenticity, including extensive historical and numismatic notes.
