Great Britain. Halfpenny, 1717. S.3659; KM-549. George I. Obverse laureate draped bust of king right. GEORGIVS.REX. Reverse; Britannia seated holding long spear and spray of leaves. Brilliant mint state with frosted cameo design and prooflike background. Produced in the first year of the king's copper coinage, this has the appearance of a special or experimental striking, it is struck on a slightly larger than normal flan/planchet and is remarkable for the unusual number of die flaws and cracks evident on the reverse of the coin.
