1839 1C Petite Head of 1840, N-8, R.1, MS64 Brown PCGS. CAC. The Head of 1840 Large cent is a sought-after type that begins the short set of Braided Hair coins. This is a gorgeous example with shimmering luster over glossy, steel-blue and medium brown surfaces. Accents of powder-blue, mint-green, and gold enhance the appeal. Strongly defined on the portrait and wreath with softness on the stars and reverse rims. The obverse shows a couple of minor ticks. Our EAC grade MS62. Population: 20 in 64 Brown, 7 finer. CAC: 5 in 64, 1 finer (1/17).
