Large Cents
1854 1C N-30, High R.6, XF40 PCGS. Bob Grellman reported that this variety was discovered in 1993, and that just six examples were know when The Die Varieties of United States Large Cents 1840-1857 was published in 2001. A decade later, 13 pieces were identified, and this one may be a new example. This piece is equal in sharpness to the Dan Holmes coin, but without the surface marks of that example. Please olive-brown surfaces exhibit splashes of light orange patina. Our EAC grade VF20.
