Proof Indian Cents
1872 1C PR65 Red PCGS. With exception of the 1877, the 1871 and 1872 Indian Head issues are the most challenging of the series in high grade. Proofs are slightly more available than business strikes in Gem or finer grades. In Red format, the proofs are very scarce and we seldom offer more than a couple of 1872 Gems during the course of an auction year. This delightful PR65 Red example is razor-sharp with glittering blaze-orange color. Aside from some tiny, nondistracting carbons minor cloudiness at the outer mirrored fields, there are no limiting factors. The eye appeal is great. Population: 11 in 65 Red, 6 finer (1/17).
