Proof Twenty Cent Pieces
1876 20C PR63 Cameo PCGS. BF-1. The 1876 Philadelphia issue is the scarcest twenty cent piece in regular-issue circulation strike format, a signal for collectors to consider a relatively more-available proof, although the 1876 proofs are scarce as well -- this despite a Guide Book mintage of 1,150 pieces in the nation's centennial year. The present Select example is brilliant except for a thin crescent of clear gold toning at the lower obverse rim. It displays a razor-sharp strike on the frost-white motifs, suggestive of an even higher grade despite a few delicate lines that crisscross the glassy-mirrored fields. Population: 26 in 63 Cameo, 59 finer (1/17).
