Half Cents
1794 1/2 C Normal Head, C-1a, B-1a, R.3 -- Double Struck, Second Strike 95% Off-Center -- AU53 PCGS Secure. Ex: Davy Collection. Manley Die State 3.0, the usual late die state for the C-1 half cents. The reverse is rotated about 30° counterclockwise, a usual die alignment for State 3.0. Heavy clash marks are located adjacent to Liberty's chin, mouth, and nose, with similarly heavy clash marks inside the left side of the wreath. This lovely example has pleasing olive, maroon, and tan surfaces. A thin lintmark is located below the bust, through the right side of the 4. The first strike was normally centered, and a second strike is 95% off-center at 4 o'clock. The cataloger for the Davy Collection noted that this piece was double struck over a partial obverse brockage. Our EAC grade VF35.
